Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino
Donald Glover, son of famous and renowned actor Danny Glover, is an articulate and variant hip-hop genius. He is extremely popular and can most definitely be considered a new voice in modern rap.
Glover's debut album "Because the Internet" was released in late December of 2013. It rose to the top of the charts nearly as fast as any other ground-breaking album. It was easy to see that the beauty of the album was because of its new outlook on hip-hop and a new way to approach it.
Glover's latest album "Late Night In Kauai" was recently released on October 2nd, 2014. Compared to Glover’s debut album, "Late Night In Kauai" is as different as night and day. He has gone directly from lyrical rap to Indie-R&B soul. His new songs sound as if they were created by a mixture of Al Green and Marvin Gaye. The music sounds like Timbaland produced it because it all has a distinct beat that has some classic touches. It strikes a very retro nostalgia in my head when I listen to it. It is by far one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to. Lastly, the new release is very different because it only contains seven very well made songs. A seven-song only album is very uncommon from a rap artist to not be an E.P. One thing is certain: Glover has already and will continue to change the rap game and create new styles and techniques to make music better.
