Bulldogs Hold Assembly to Celebrate APR

By Lia Spears, Growl Staff Writer

South Pemiscot High School held an assembly on November 5, 2014 to celebrate our attendance and our great scores on the MAP and EOC tests. Our APR was a 96.1%! At the assembly, Mr. Carter talked about how we used teamwork to achieve our high score on the tests. We watched several videos over teamwork and then the fun began.

Every grade, 7th through 12th, was given the opportunity to perform a skit at the assembly. The seventh grade skit was about how your brain acts if you don’t do drugs compared to if you do drugs. The eighth grade skit was about echoes. Next came the freshman skit, which was a dance with glow in the dark stick figures. The sophomores did a remix to “So You Think You Can Dance” and they called it “So You Think You Can Twerk.” The juniors did a skit that was parody of different movies and scenes. Finally, the seniors did a skit that they called “Midget Dancing.”

In addition to the class skits, Mu Alpha Theta also performed a 12 Days of School skit. If you are wondering what Mu Alpha Theta is, it is basically a national math honor society. It is invite only and all members are required to maintain an A and B average in advanced math classes to remain active.

At the end of the assembly, Mr.Carter handed out Perfect Attendance cards, which were free passes to all games. As soon as you miss a day at school, you get your card taken away from you.

That is basically what our assembly was about on November 5, 2014. We did our skits to show how you can use teamwork to accomplish things that have to be done quick, fast, and in a hurry. Well, that’s all for now. Catch ya next time reading The Growl. Have a great day!
