The high school volleyball season started in August of 2014. The first few practices were some of the worst, because they were mostly conditioning practices. Those were also the practices where we, as teammates, learned who was committed and who was not.

The season had a pretty rough start, as far as wins go, but we never gave up and tried not to let that get us down. During the Junior Varsity tournament in Malden, Missouri, we were able to pull off wins against the teams of Holcomb and Campbell, putting us in the Silver Bracket of the tournament. Then our Varsity team played in the “Dig for Life” tournament in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They were able to pull off wins against the toughest of teams that we wouldn’t usually play in a regular ball season. Varsity also played in the Gideon, Missouri tournament. They put up a great fight, but just fell a little short of their victories.

After most of our tournaments were over, and we were getting used to playing in a regular gym again, we still had trouble pulling together as a team and communicating like we needed to. Until one night, when Mrs. Booker was gone away, we had to realize that we could win together, and make our coach proud. Both teams were able to beat Delta C-7 on Thursday night, September 25th. Then on September 29th we beat the Holcomb Hornets. However, JV’s winning streak was broken on Tuesday, September 30th, by the Senath-Hornersville Lions.

There are many more games, and many more opportunities to win and work together as a team. We would love it if you came out and support us for our future volleyball games.
