SPHS Celebrates 50 Years!

By Katelyn Seabaugh, Growl Staff Writer

This year marks the 50th year of having South Pemiscot School District. We had a huge celebration with many attendees! We had a person from almost every graduating year attend, alumni games with previous athletes playing, and even a parade which included this years South Pemiscot High School Band playing My Sharona. Later that Saturday night, there was a dinner fully catered by Strawberry’s Steak House, many speeches given, and just a time of gathering for all past graduates. I myself was in the parade with the band, and was shocked with the large amount of people that came together who, after all these years, still support their school! Go Bulldogs!

Ms. Linda Crawford, an organizer of the reunion, had the following to say about the event: “The community involvement and the representation of those that passed through the hallowed halls of our schools was overwhelming. In the beginning, we were hoping for around 250 participants. We ended up with around 800! Everyone had such a good time. The speakers were amazing. The compliments to our grounds and campuses were heart warming. I am so proud to be a South Pemiscot Alum and I bleed black and gold to this day.”
